We are seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Accountant to join our team in Wood Ridge, NJ. If you enjoy a mix of hands-on accounting work, problem-solving, and supporting community operations, this role is a great fit.


Position Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial activities across multiple homeowners associations (HOAs). This includes preparing monthly financial statements, handling accounts payable/receivable, reconciling accounts, assisting with budget preparation, and supporting community managers and board members with financial inquiries.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements for assigned communities
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Reconcile bank statements, reserve accounts, and general ledger entries
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and audit support
  • Maintain financial records in accordance with industry standards and governing documents
  • Respond to financial inquiries from HOA board members, homeowners, and internal staff
  • Ensure compliance with HOA governing documents, state requirements, and internal policies
  • Support year-end processes including 1099s, audit packages, and tax filings

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience (HOA / property management experience a plus)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Proficiency with accounting software (experience with property management platforms such as TOPS, Vantaca, or CINC preferred)
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines

Preferred:

  • Experience in HOA, property management, or real estate accounting
  • Familiarity with fund accounting or community association financial structures
